Over 31 years ago, Shark Industries was established in 1983 by Diana Mini and was first located in Chicago, Illinois until 2001. In 2000, Shark began building their new 50,000 square foot manufacturing and warehousing facility in Rockford, Minnesota. Today, Shark manufactures cut-off wheels, flap discs, and converts surface conditioning discs and mini grinding discs at their Rockford facility. In the last 5 years, Shark has purchased 3 new machines to improve the production of their most popular items; as well as to manufacture items that were previously sourced overseas.
Shark was named one of the Top Businesses in the U.S. by DiversityBusiness.com; one of the Top 100 Diversity Owned Businesses in Minnesota and one of the Top 50 Woman Owned Businesses in Minnesota (ranking 20) for 2014.
Shark was named one of the Top 5000 Fastest Growing Companies by Inc. Magazine in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Among many achievements, Shark received a Certificate of Commendation for Outstanding Contributions to the Minnesota Economy in 2009.
The patented Isse Tire Socks that are marketed exclusively by Shark Industries Ltd. were given an Editor’s Choice Award in 2011 by Popular Mechanics Magazine in recognition of outstanding achievement in new product design and innovation.
In 2007, Shark was given an award for the Best New Supplier of 2007 by Mac Tools.
Shark is a member of WIM, WOMEN in manufacturing, Auto Care Association (formerly AAIA) as well as CAFA (the Coated Abrasives Fabricators Association) and SEMA. They will be exhibiting in Las Vegas at the 2015 SEMA Show in November.
